Unconditional love is known as affection without any limitations, or love without conditions. This term is sometimes associated with other terms such as true altruism or complete love.

I feel like if I were to ask if people had unconditional love 85% of them would initially say "Yes." I have claimed such a thing. That I've had unconditional love.

But did I?

I thought in terms of my intimate relationships. If they cheated? If they said they hated me? If they tested my limits? Maybe I've never really had to put my love to the test. I've never dated a woman who didn't treat me right.

I only recently started really asking if I unconditionally loved my partner. And at first, when I made up stories in my head, ways she could potentially hurt me, I felt my love go quiet. I felt I didn't unconditionally love. Recently, we've deepened in our love. I know my partner would never do anything to intentionally hurt me. And in that I can say with such ease, I unconditionally love her. I support her every move and enjoy watching her journey.

I feel like there may be categories of unconditional love. If my partner had to walk away, I'd still love her. If she tried to pull a knife on me, I might not be with her or love her in the way I once did.

The only way we can really know if we unconditionally love someone is if our love has been put to the test.

My mom and I started talking about unconditional love. She said, "I feel hate and love are a germ away from each other. If someone can make you hate them then that means you loved them. If you don't care either way then there was nothing there to begin with." My mom thinks we can love and hate fiercely but that it is not unconditional.

Overall, and no matter what, I hope you unconditionally love this blog.
